As we reached our first birthday early in 2018, demand for Quack Snacks had started to outstrip our ability to fulfil customer orders and ever get to bed at night.
We then made the monumental decision to outsource all customer fulfilment activity to Amazon, which enabled us to focus all our energies on making Quack Snacks packs, whilst Amazon sent out all the customer orders.
Amazon has been a huge help to us and our customers have benefited from Amazon’s world class fulfilment capabilities – same day or next day at no extra cost for Amazon Prime subscribers!
However, those world class fulfilment capabilities aren’t without cost. We pay to send items to Amazon, pay for Amazon to store them, pay Amazon a commission for each sale and pay them some more to process and dispatch orders. If you’ve got an Amazon Prime account, the ultimate cost is still great value compared to what we could offer using Royal Mail’s Special Delivery service – but if you’re not a Prime subscriber and you don’t need your Quack Snacks in double-quick time, there are now cheaper order fulfilment options.
So we’ve decided to re-open our own online wild duck food shop, powered once more by Shopify to process order and payment details securely. In the short term, we’ll be fulfilling orders ourselves via Royal Mail second and first class services, but before we get swamped again, we’ll start working with non-Amazon fulfilment services to keep orders flowing in a timely way.
Our Amazon shop will remain open and remains great value if you need things in a hurry. However, if you don’t mind waiting a little extra time for our little team to prepare your order and send it via Royal Mail, we’re pleased to offer Quack Snacks packs priced to reflect the reduced fulfilment costs:
